Title: “In the Red Fairytale” 《红色童话中》
Artist: Red House 《红房子》
Release Date: May 3, 2020
Lei Bingxin (Guitar/Singer), Zhu Haiyang (Bass), and Wang Ruikang (Drummer) make up the math rock band Red House. Its members hail from Xi'an and were born after the year 2000. They were founded in 2016 by high school students (currently first-years in college).
Their first EP, "Remember The Light Of The Lake That Night," was released in 2018 and contains four narrative instrumental rock songs. As time progressed and people grew, the number of band members went from the initial seven to three people in 2019. Their style of music has evolved from the minimalist backswing of the past to the math-rock style of the future.
Their new EP "In the Red Fairy Tale" was published on May 3, 2020. Since it’s their first song after transitioning to a new style, the track represents the band’s new direction. Its story reminds us not to indulge in numbness. The passage of time reminds us how time is always fleeting, always changing, and always helping us see the extreme diversity in this world. If you are feeling numb, listen to this song and feel more present in the moment. Your thoughts will become clear and time will slow down accordingly.
Red House made a conscious decision to evolve from their minimalist post-rock style and towards the neo-impressionism. Modeling after artistic choices made in modernist paintings, this song is the basis for all the other music on the album.
"Red is the color of low-frequency on the visible spectrum. This rule exists in every house you are in. You and I are the origin of the world, the lines, and the frame."
