Electric Cherry is a mixed electronic band duo that has one of the most charming electric group female voices in China.
Their debut album “Baby, I Hear the Voice of the Galaxy” produced by Caotai Echo (a Beijing music label) is a wide range of electronic music elements created by the band’s keyboardist ranging from retro and bright Disco and House to blurry modern Hip-Hop, Techno, Trance, and Future Bass.
The band prides themselves on their ability to use synthesizers and ambiguous vocals to create clear imagery. Through their emotional performances, they give space for self-experience.
Electric Cherry has a unique avant-garde vibe, which ultimately got them invited to perform as guest performers for Shanghai Fashion Week, YES BY YESIR 2021 Spring and Summer Shows, and China International Fashion Week.

Which song of yours do you believe best introduces the band to new listeners?
“Baby, I Hear the Voice of the Galaxy”
Why did you name the band “Electric Cherry”?
Xiao Yihang chose the “electric” part because of her regret of not becoming a scientist. Yan Jin chose the word “cherry” because he likes strawberry milkshakes.
Aside from music, do you have any interests that you are passionate about?
We both have our own clothing lines, so our passion for music is only slightly more than that for fashion. We are often ridiculed for dressing up as if we are about to perform on stage all the time. We believe that there is a strong connection between fashion and music, for every aspect must be fashionable!
In addition to fashion, if there is an opportunity to cross the line of performance, is there any type/person you would like to work with?
Electric Cherry has cooperated with YES fashion brand BY YESIR, visual artist Tian Xiaolei, literary film directors Qian Ye, and much more through this cooperation. We feel Electric Cherry is cooperating with people across borders with all forms of artists.
The music style you played before is quite different from the original Electric Cherry. The introduction of the new album also talks about the contradictory feelings between your inner world and the outside world. Do you agree that Electric Cherry now is closer to your inner selves?
I strongly agree that the music of Electric Cherry itself is intended to please ourselves, so it is the closest to our inner world.
You have a performance in Bump Space on December 11th. What do you think fans can expect?
In addition to experiencing soul resonance on the album, we think Electric Cherry's live scene can accurately adjust each other's frequency, because resonance can reach the heart more quickly under the live and close performance. We are looking forward to exploring each other's inner world together with everyone on the scene.
One of your labels is "a new creative band that moves between pop and independent expression." How do you think pop and independent are related? Why do you walk between the two?
We think popularity is more about telling other people's stories, and independence is more about self-expression. Our music is built on a strong desire for self-expression, but most of the time we don't have enough stories to carry these expressions, so we need some other people's stories as the carrier.
